Redbird AATD Flight Simulator
Master the Skies Without Leaving the Ground
Realistic Scenarios:
Practice VFR transitions, flight following, and complex route amendments live.
Interactive Learning:
Watch professional scenario demonstration videos and fly along in real-time.
The Gold Standard in Flight Simulation
Our Redbird Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) is a highly capable, FAA-approved simulator modeled after the Cessna 172. It features a traditional six-pack instrument layout paired with Garmin 430/530 avionics and an integrated autopilot system. This allows students to practice real-world procedures in a consistent, controlled learning environment. We teach in the simulator, execute in the aircraft.
Tactile Learning: Traditional "six-pack" round-gauge flight instruments.
Modern Avionics: Dual Garmin GNS 430/530 stack and a simulated transponder with ADS-B functionality.
Total Control: Instructors can configure specific weather, system failures, and emergency scenarios.
Versatile Training: Ideal for students flying any of the aircraft from our training fleet.
Master the Airwaves with PilotEdge
Real Controllers. Real Procedures. Real-Time Training.
Seamless Integration:
Fully connected PilotEdge network tracks your position for a true-to-life experience.
Live Human ATC:
Access real, staffed controllers providing taxi, takeoff, and IFR clearances.
Professional Ratings:
Master radio comms through structured CAT (VFR) and I-Rating (IFR) programs.
The “Hear Yourself” Tool:
Listen back to your own transmissions to perfect phraseology and confidence.
FAA-Approved Uses
The following Part 61 approved uses of the Redbird AATD are fully authorized by the FAA and may be logged toward training and experience requirements.
Pro-Tip: Logging your Sim Time
So your simulator sessions count toward your FAA requirements, please remember to bring your logbook to every session. Your instructor must sign each entry noting the use of the Redbird AATD and the specific tasks performed. A copy of our FAA Letter of Authorization (LOA) is on-site as it is required to be available for inspection when logging this time.
Investment & Savings Analysis
Train in the Simulator. Save Thousands in the Aircraft.
Training in the Redbird AATD is a professional investment that pays for itself by reducing the total flight hours required to master complex instrument procedures. By utilizing the maximum FAA-allowed credit, you can save thousands of dollars on your path to an Instrument Rating.

So, Why Train in the Redbird?
Accelerated Proficiency
Dramatically speeds up VFR and IFR learning.
Pause-and-Learn
Unlike the cockpit, you can “freeze” the sim to discuss a maneuver or mistake in real-time.
Weather Immunity
Train regardless of the actual weather outside.
Reduced Total Cost
Save money by mastering complex avionics and procedures on the ground first.
